Security Deposits:
Deposits average $150+ per apartment. They may charge a deposit per roommate. Generally, the security deposit is fully refundable if there isn’t any damage to the apartment home. Some use a portion of the deposit as a fee, called an Administrative Fee. (Ex: $200 deposit; $50 nonrefundable).

Credit Requirements & Application Fee:
Most apartment community’s look at 3 items regarding credit requirements: rental history, income and credit history. An application fee is charged which pays for the application procedure. This fee normally ranges between $15-$55. It is helpful to have references from previous landlords and/or mortgage companies stating prompt payment.

Lease Terms:
The lease terms are from 6 months to 12 months. Some communities offer 3-month leases. However, a surcharge is usually added to the monthly rent.

Pets:
Deposits or nonrefundable fees are required pets are accepted. Fee is partially refundable, with the remainder refunded at move out. Deposits range from $200-$500 per pet. Most communities allow pets under 25lbs or under. Some will accept non-aggressive breeds with a higher deposit.

Utilities:
Most of the apartment communities pay for water, wastewater, and trash, as part of the rent each month. Some properties pay utilities with the lease.
